The Rapid Passing of Time and Increase in Killing

SUMMARY: This hadith is about the rapid passing of time, decrease in good deeds, and increase in killing and murdering.

Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah's Messenger said, "Time will pass rapidly, good deeds will decrease, and miserliness will be thrown (in the hearts of the people), and the Harj (will increase)". They asked, "What is the Harj?" He replied, "(It is) killing (murdering), (it is) murdering (killing).
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْيَمَانِ، أَخْبَرَنَا شُعَيْبٌ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي حُمَيْدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، أَنَّ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ، قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ‏"‏ يَتَقَارَبُ الزَّمَانُ وَيَنْقُصُ الْعَمَلُ، وَيُلْقَى الشُّحُّ وَيَكْثُرُ الْهَرْجُ ‏"‏‏.‏ قَالُوا وَمَا الْهَرْجُ قَالَ ‏"‏ الْقَتْلُ، الْقَتْلُ

EXPLANATIONS:
In this hadith, Prophet Muhammad ﷺ is warning us about the rapid passing of time. He also warns us that as time passes by, good deeds will decrease while miserliness and killing will increase. We should be aware that our actions have consequences; if we do not do good deeds then bad ones will take their place. We should strive to do as many good deeds as possible so that we can prevent bad ones from taking over our lives. Additionally, we should be mindful of how quickly time passes by so that we can make the most out of it while it lasts.
