Sahih al-Bukhari 597 (Book 9, Hadith 72) #575
Making Up For Forgotten Prayers

SUMMARY: If someone forgets to pray, they should make up for it when they remember. There is no other way to make up for it except by praying the same prayer.

Narrated Anas: The Prophet said, "If anyone forgets a prayer he should pray that prayer when he remembers it. There is no expiation except to pray the same". Then he recited: "Establish prayer for My (ie Allah's) remembrance". (20:14).

QUICK LESSONS:
Remember your prayers and fulfill them on time

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith teaches us that if we forget to pray, we should make up for it when we remember. We cannot do anything else as a form of expiation or repentance except by praying the same prayer again. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ also recited a verse from the Quran which states “Establish prayer for My remembrance” (20:14). This verse emphasizes how important and necessary it is to remember Allah and His commands in our daily lives, especially through prayer. It is important that we take this hadith seriously and strive not to forget our prayers so that we can stay connected with Allah and be rewarded in both worlds.
