Sahih al-Bukhari 5954 (Book 77, Hadith 170) #5714
Imitating Allah's Creations

SUMMARY: Allah's Messenger ﷺ warned against trying to imitate Allah's creations, and tore a curtain with pictures on it as an example.

Narrated 'Aisha: Allah's Messenger returned from a journey when I had placed a curtain of mine having pictures over (the door of) a chamber of mine. When Allah's Messenger saw it, he tore it and said, "The people who will receive the severest punishment on the Day of Resurrection will be those who try to make the like of Allah's creations". So we turned it (ie, the curtain) into one or two cushions.

QUICK LESSONS:
Respect God's creations and be grateful for His blessings

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the importance of not imitating Allah’s creations. It was narrated by Aisha, who said that when the Prophet Muhammad returned from a journey he saw a curtain with pictures on it in her chamber. He then tore it and said that those who try to make something like what Allah has created will receive the severest punishment on the Day of Resurrection. This teaches us that we should not try to imitate or copy what God has created, as this is considered disrespectful and can lead to severe punishment in the afterlife. We should instead be grateful for all of God’s blessings and accept them without trying to change them or make something similar ourselves.
