Taking Suhur and Praying

SUMMARY: The hadith is about the Prophet (ﷺ) taking Suhur and then standing up for prayer with a sufficient interval to recite fifty to sixty verses.

Narrated Anas: Zaid bin Thabit said, "We took the "Suhur" (the meal taken before dawn while fasting is observed) with the Prophet and then stood up for the (morning) prayer". I asked him how long the interval between the two (Suhur and prayer) was. He replied, 'The interval between the two was just sufficient to recite fifty to Sixth 'Ayat".
حَدَّثَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ عَاصِمٍ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا هَمَّامٌ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ، أَنَّ زَيْدَ بْنَ ثَابِتٍ، حَدَّثَهُ أَنَّهُمْ، تَسَحَّرُوا مَعَ النَّبِيِّ ثُمَّ قَامُوا إِلَى الصَّلاَةِ‏.‏ قُلْتُ كَمْ بَيْنَهُمَا قَالَ قَدْرُ خَمْسِينَ أَوْ سِتِّينَ ـ يَعْنِي آيَةً ـ ح‏.‏

This hadith is about the importance of taking suhur before dawn while fasting and then standing up for prayer with a sufficient interval to recite fifty to sixty verses. It was narrated by Anas bin Malik that Zaid bin Thabit said that they took suhur with the Prophet ﷺ and then stood up for prayer. He asked how long the interval between them was and he replied that it was just enough time to recite fifty or sixty ayats. This hadith teaches us about the importance of having suhoor before dawn while fasting as well as having enough time in between meals and prayers so we can properly focus on our recitation of Quranic verses. It also emphasizes on how important it is to take advantage of every moment we have in order to increase our knowledge of Islam through reciting Quran.
