The Power of Speech

SUMMARY: Speech can be as powerful as magic.

Narrated 'Abdullah bin 'Umar: Two men came from the East and addressed the people who wondered at their eloquent speeches On that Allah's Messenger said. Some eloquent speech is as effective as magic'.
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ يُوسُفَ، أَخْبَرَنَا مَالِكٌ، عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَسْلَمَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ ـ رضى الله عنهما أَنَّهُ قَدِمَ رَجُلاَنِ مِنَ الْمَشْرِقِ، فَخَطَبَا، فَعَجِبَ النَّاسُ لِبَيَانِهِمَا، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ‏ "‏ إِنَّ مِنَ الْبَيَانِ لَسِحْرًا ـ أَوْ ـ إِنَّ بَعْضَ الْبَيَانِ لَسِحْرٌ

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks to the power of speech and how it can be just as effective as magic. It is narrated by Abdullah bin Umar who was a companion of Prophet Muhammad. In response to this, Prophet Muhammad said that some eloquent speech is like magic in its power and effectiveness.
