Sahih al-Bukhari 5686 (Book 76, Hadith 9) #5460
Punishment for Disobedience

SUMMARY: The Prophet ﷺ punished those who disobeyed his orders and killed the shepherd and drove away the camels.

Narrated Anas: The climate of Medina did not suit some people, so the Prophet ordered them to follow his shepherd, ie his camels, and drink their milk and urine (as a medicine). So they followed the shepherd that is the camels and drank their milk and urine till their bodies became healthy. Then they killed the shepherd and drove away the camels. When the news reached the Prophet he sent some people in their pursuit. When they were brought, he cut their hands and feet and their eyes were branded with heated pieces of iron.

QUICK LESSONS:
Obey Allah's commands & those given by His Messenger (ﷺ) .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about a group of people who were not able to adjust to the climate of Medina. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ ordered them to follow his shepherd and drink the milk and urine of his camels as a form of medicine. They followed this order until their bodies became healthy again. However, they then went against the Prophet's orders by killing the shepherd and driving away his camels. When news reached him about this incident he sent some people in pursuit of them. When they were brought back he punished them by cutting off their hands and feet while branding their eyes with heated pieces of iron as a form of retribution for disobeying him. This hadith teaches us that we should always obey Allah's commands as well as those given by His Messenger ﷺ or else face severe consequences for our disobedience.
