Permissibility of Eating Horse Meat in Islam

SUMMARY: Eating horse meat is permissible in Islam.

Narrated Asma': We slaughtered a horse during the lifetime of Allah's Messenger and ate it.
حَدَّثَنَا الْحُمَيْدِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامٌ، عَنْ فَاطِمَةَ، عَنْ أَسْمَاءَ، قَالَتْ نَحَرْنَا فَرَسًا عَلَى عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ فَأَكَلْنَاهُ‏.‏
