Seek permission before doing something

This hadith is about the permission given by the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ to a slave girl belonging to Ka'b. She was grazing some sheep at Sl'a mountain when one of them was dying. Before it died completely, she slaughtered it with a stone and asked for permission from the Prophet ﷺ if she could eat it. The Prophet ﷺ gave her permission and said that she can eat it. This hadith teaches us that we should always seek permission before doing something and also shows us how merciful and kind the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ was towards his people even in difficult situations like this one.
