This hadith is about the blessing of naming a child. It is narrated by Abu Musa that when his son was born, he took him to the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ who named him Ibrahim and did tahnik for him with a date. Tahnik is an Islamic tradition where one chews on a date or other sweet food item and then places it in the baby's mouth as an act of blessing. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ also invoked Allah to bless his son before returning him back to his father.
