Eating with Care

SUMMARY: Eating should be done with cleanliness and care.

Narrated Ibn 'Abbas: The Prophet said, 'When you eat, do not wipe your hands till you have licked it, or had it licked by somebody else".
حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ دِينَارٍ، عَنْ عَطَاءٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ قَالَ ‏ "‏ إِذَا أَكَلَ أَحَدُكُمْ فَلاَ يَمْسَحْ يَدَهُ حَتَّى يَلْعَقَهَا أَوْ يُلْعِقَهَا

QUICK LESSONS:

EXPLANATIONS:
The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) taught us to eat with care and cleanliness. He said that when we eat, we should not wipe our hands until we have licked them or had them licked by someone else. This teaches us to take the time to make sure our hands are clean before eating and that it is important to take care of ourselves while eating. We should also be mindful of others around us who may need help cleaning their hands before they can eat as well.
