Prayer Times of Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) in Medina

SUMMARY: The Prophet (ﷺ) prayed eight rak'at for the Zuhr and 'Asr, and seven for the Maghrib and 'Isha prayers in Medina.

Narrated Ibn 'Abbas: "The Prophet prayed eight rak'at for the Zuhr and 'Asr, and seven for the Maghrib and 'Isha prayers in Medina". Aiyub said, "Perhaps those were rainy nights". Anas said, "May be".
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو النُّعْمَانِ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ ـ هُوَ ابْنُ زَيْدٍ ـ عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ دِينَارٍ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ زَيْدٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى بِالْمَدِينَةِ سَبْعًا وَثَمَانِيًا الظُّهْرَ وَالْعَصْرَ، وَالْمَغْرِبَ وَالْعِشَاءَ‏.‏ فَقَالَ أَيُّوبُ لَعَلَّهُ فِي لَيْلَةٍ مَطِيرَةٍ‏.‏ قَالَ عَسَى‏.‏

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the prayer times of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ during his stay in Medina. It is narrated by Ibn Abbas that he used to pray eight rak'ats for Zuhr and Asr prayers, while seven rak'ats for Maghrib and Isha prayers. Aiyub suggested that these were rainy nights, to which Anas replied with a "May be". This hadith teaches us about the importance of prayer timings as prescribed by our beloved prophet ﷺ. We should strive to follow his example as much as possible so that we can reap its rewards both in this world and hereafter.
