Eating Before Praying

SUMMARY: The Prophet (ﷺ) and his companions went to Khaibar and were offered Sawiq for food. After eating, they rinsed their mouths with water before praying.

Narrated Suwaid bin An Nu'man: We went out with Allah's Messenger to Khaibar, and when we reached As-Sahba', the Prophet asked for food, and he was offered nothing but Sawiq. We ate, and then Allah's Messenger stood up for the prayer. He rinsed his mouth with water, and we too, rinsed our mouths.

This hadith teaches us that it is important to eat before praying so that we can perform our prayers in a state of purity and cleanliness. We should also take care to rinse our mouths after eating so that we can be sure our prayers are accepted by Allah SWT.
