QUICK LESSONS:
Be mindful while eating; take only what you need from a dish; be respectful while eating; cook vegetables and meats together in one dish if desired.

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith narrated by Anas ibn Malik tells us about the Prophet Muhammad's eating habits. He was served with a soup containing gourd and cured meat, which he then proceeded to pick up pieces of the gourd from it to eat. This hadith teaches us that it is permissible to eat food that contains both vegetables as well as meat in one dish, as long as they are cooked together. It also shows us that we should not be wasteful when eating food, but rather take only what we need from it. Furthermore, this hadith serves as an example for us on how to conduct ourselves while eating; being mindful of our manners and not taking too much or too little from a dish.
