Sahih al-Bukhari 5393 (Book 70, Hadith 21) #5167
Contentment in Eating

SUMMARY: A believer should be content with a little food, while an unbeliever eats much.

Narrated Nafi': Ibn 'Umar never used to take his meal unless a poor man was called to eat with him. One day I brought a poor man to eat with him, the man ate too much, whereupon Ibn 'Umar said, "O Nafi'! Don't let this man enter my house, for I heard the Prophet saying, "A believer eats in one intestine (is satisfied with a little food), and a kafir (unbeliever) eats in seven intestines (eats much food).

QUICK LESSONS:
Be content with what you have and don't overindulge yourself when it comes to eating; Share your blessings by inviting those who are less fortunate than you for meals; Remember Allah SWT's blessings on you.
EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the importance of contentment when it comes to eating. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said that a believer eats in one intestine, meaning they are satisfied with a small amount of food, while an unbeliever eats in seven intestines, meaning they eat much more than necessary. This hadith teaches us that we should be content with what we have and not overindulge ourselves when it comes to eating. We should also remember to share our blessings and invite those who are less fortunate than us to join us for meals so that everyone can benefit from the blessings of Allah SWT.
