Describing Women to Husbands

SUMMARY: A woman should not describe another woman to her husband in such a way that it is as if he is looking at her.

Narrated 'Abdullah bin Mas'ud: The Prophet said, "A woman should not look at or touch another woman to describe her to her husband in such a way as if he was actually looking at her".

QUICK LESSONS:
Be respectful when talking about others; Use words wisely; Communicate with your spouse; Respect your spouse's privacy; Trust your spouse

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith teaches us that women should not describe other women to their husbands in such a way that it is as if the husband was actually looking at the other woman. This means that women should be careful when talking about other women, and they should not use language or descriptions which could lead to inappropriate thoughts or feelings. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ also taught us that we must always be respectful of others, and this includes being respectful of how we talk about them. We must also remember that our words have power, and so we must use them wisely.

This hadith also teaches us an important lesson about marriage - it is important for couples to trust each other and respect each other's privacy. If one partner does not feel comfortable with the way their spouse talks about someone else, then they need to communicate this with their partner so they can work together on finding a solution which works for both of them.
