Keeping Promises and Fulfilling Oaths

SUMMARY: The Prophet (ﷺ) took an oath to not enter upon some of his wives for one month, but when twenty nine days had elapsed, he went to them.

Narrated Um Salama: The Prophet took an oath that he would not enter upon some of his wives for one month. But when twenty nine days had elapsed, he went to them in the morning or evening. It was said to him, "O Allah's Prophet! You had taken an oath that you would not enter upon them for one month". He replied, "The month can be of twenty nine days".

QUICK LESSONS:
Keep your promises and fulfill your oaths even if it means making small adjustments in order to do so .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the importance of keeping promises and fulfilling oaths. It is narrated by Um Salama that the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ took an oath that he would not enter upon some of his wives for one month. However, after twenty nine days had passed, he went to them in the morning or evening. When it was pointed out to him that he had taken an oath not to enter upon them for a full month, he replied that a month can be of twenty nine days. This teaches us the importance of keeping our promises and fulfilling our oaths even if it means making small adjustments in order to do so. We should always strive to keep our word no matter what because this is what Allah expects from us as believers.
