Invalidating Unwanted Marriages

SUMMARY: Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) declared a marriage invalid when the woman was not happy with it.

Narrated Khansa bint Khidam Al-Ansariya: that her father gave her in marriage when she was a matron and she disliked that marriage. So she went to Allah's Messenger and he declared that marriage invalid.
حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي مَالِكٌ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ الْقَاسِمِ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، وَمُجَمِّعٍ، ابْنَىْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ جَارِيَةَ عَنْ خَنْسَاءَ بِنْتِ خِذَامٍ الأَنْصَارِيَّةِ، أَنَّ أَبَاهَا، زَوَّجَهَا وَهْىَ ثَيِّبٌ، فَكَرِهَتْ ذَلِكَ فَأَتَتْ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ فَرَدَّ نِكَاحَهُ‏.‏

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about a woman named Khansa bint Khidam Al-Ansariya who was married off by her father when she was already an adult. She did not like this marriage and so she went to Allah's Messenger for help. He then declared that the marriage was invalid and that she did not have to stay in it if she did not want to. This hadith teaches us that consent is important in any kind of relationship and no one should be forced into something they do not want to do. It also shows us the importance of seeking help from Allah's Messenger whenever we are facing difficulties or problems in our lives as he will always provide us with guidance and support.
