This hadith speaks to the importance of prayer and its proximity to places where sacred texts are kept. Salama bin Al-Akwa', a companion of Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) was observed by Yazid bin Al 'Ubaid praying near a pillar which was close to the place where Qur’ans were kept. When asked why he did this, he replied that he saw Allah's Messenger doing it as well. This shows us that we should strive for closeness in our prayers with places that are associated with holiness and spirituality such as mosques or places where religious texts are stored. It also teaches us that we can learn from observing others who have good character and morals; in this case it is Prophet Muhammad himself who serves as an example for us all.
