Sahih al-Bukhari 5062 (Book 66, Hadith 87) #4846
Unity in Reciting the Quran

SUMMARY: The Prophet (ﷺ) taught that it is important to not differ in reciting the Quran, and that nations before us were destroyed because of their differences.

Narrated 'Abdullah: That he heard a man reciting a Quranic Verse which he had heard the Prophet reciting in a different way. So he took that man to the Prophet (and told him the story). The Prophet said, "Both of you are reciting in a correct way, so carry on reciting". The Prophet further added, "The nations which were before you were destroyed (by Allah) because they differed".

QUICK LESSONS:
Respect others’ opinions on religious matters; strive for unity; recite correctly according to what was intended by Allah; be kind and open-minded towards others’ views on religion; understand each other’s perspectives without judgement or criticism.

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith teaches us about the importance of unity when it comes to reciting the Quran. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said that both ways of reciting are correct, but warned against differing from one another as this can lead to destruction. We should strive for unity and understanding when it comes to our religious practices, so we can avoid any potential harm or destruction. It is also important for us to remember that Allah has given us guidance through His words in the Quran, and we should take care not to change them or interpret them differently than what was intended.

We must also be mindful of how we treat each other when discussing religious matters; respect and kindness are essential components of a healthy dialogue between people who may have different opinions on certain topics. By being open-minded and understanding towards one another, we can ensure that our conversations remain productive instead of becoming heated arguments which could lead to further division among Muslims.
