Sahih al-Bukhari 5050 (Book 66, Hadith 74) #4833
Reciting the Quran Moves the Prophet (ﷺ) to Tears

SUMMARY: The Prophet (ﷺ) asked Abdullah bin Mas'ud to recite the Quran to him, and when Abdullah recited a verse about Allah's judgement, the Prophet (ﷺ) was moved to tears.

Narrated 'Abdullah bin Mas'ud: The Prophet said to me, "Recite (the Qur'an) to me". I said, "O Allah's Messenger Shall I recite (the Qur'an) to you while it has been revealed to you?" He said, "Yes". So I recited Surat-An-Nisa' (The Women), but when I recited the Verse: 'How (will it be) then when We bring from each nation a witness and We bring you (O Muhammad) as a witness against these people'. (4:41) He said, "Enough for the present," I looked at him and behold! His eyes were overflowing with tears

QUICK LESSONS:
Respect for religious texts; Reflecting deeply on religious texts; Taking one’s time while reading/reciting religious text; Appreciating others who read/recite religious text aloud .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about how powerful and moving it can be when we recite verses from the Quran. When 'Abdullah bin Mas’ud recited a verse from Surat An-Nisa’ about how Allah will bring witnesses from each nation on Judgement Day, it moved the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ so much that his eyes filled with tears. This shows us that even though he was already familiar with this verse of the Quran because he received it as revelation from God Almighty himself, hearing someone else recite it still had an emotional impact on him. It also teaches us that we should take our time when reading or reciting verses of the Quran and reflect deeply on their meanings in order to gain maximum benefit from them.
