Reciting the Qur'an for Pleasure

SUMMARY: The Prophet (ﷺ) asked Abdullah to recite the Qur'an to him, even though he had already been revealed it.

Narrated 'Abdullah: That the Prophet said to him, "Recite the Qur'an to me"'.Abdullah said, "Shall I recite (the Qur'an) to you while it has been revealed to you?" He said, "I like to hear it from others".
حَدَّثَنَا عُمَرُ بْنُ حَفْصِ بْنِ غِيَاثٍ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي، عَنِ الأَعْمَشِ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي إِبْرَاهِيمُ، عَنْ عَبِيدَةَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، رضى الله عنه قَالَ قَالَ لِي النَّبِيُّ ‏"‏ اقْرَأْ عَلَىَّ الْقُرْآنَ ‏"‏‏.‏ قُلْتُ آقْرَأُ عَلَيْكَ وَعَلَيْكَ أُنْزِلَ قَالَ ‏"‏ إِنِّي أُحِبُّ أَنْ أَسْمَعَهُ مِنْ غَيْرِي

In this hadith narrated by 'Abdullah we learn that the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ asked him to recite the Quran even though he was already aware of its contents. This shows us that it is important to listen and appreciate the recitation of others. It also teaches us that we should not take our knowledge for granted and should always strive to learn more about our faith. Furthermore it encourages us to be humble and open minded when listening or learning from others as well as being respectful towards them.
