Sahih al-Bukhari 499 (Book 8, Hadith 146) #482
Praying with a Sutra

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) led the people in prayer with a short spear planted in front of him as a sutra, while women and donkeys were passing beyond it.

Narrated 'Aun bin Abi Juhaifa: that he had heard his father saying, "Allah's Messenger came to us at midday and water was brought for his ablution. He performed ablution and led us in Zuhr and 'Asr prayers with a short spear (or stick) planted in front of him (as a Sutra), while women and donkeys were passing beyond it".

QUICK LESSONS:
Be mindful of your surroundings when praying , Respect others during prayer
EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the Prophet Muhammad's practice of leading prayers with a short spear planted in front of him as a sutra. A sutra is an object placed between the worshipper and the qibla, which serves to separate them from any distractions or disturbances that may occur during prayer. This hadith also teaches us that we should be mindful of our surroundings when praying, and not let anything distract us from our worship. Additionally, this hadith shows us how important it is to be respectful towards others when praying; even though women and donkeys were passing by while he was leading prayers, he still continued without interruption or distraction.
