Sahih al-Bukhari 47 (Book 2, Hadith 40) #47
Attending Funeral Processions for Reward

SUMMARY: A believer who attends a funeral procession and remains until the burial will be rewarded with two Qirats, which is equivalent to the size of Mount Uhud. Those who offer funeral prayer only will be rewarded with one Qirat.

Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah's Messenger said, "(A believer) who accompanies the funeral procession of a Muslim out of sincere faith and hoping to attain Allah's reward and remains with it till the funeral prayer is offered and the burial ceremonies are over, he will return with a reward of two Qirats. Each Qirat is like the size of the (Mount) Uhud. He who offers the funeral prayer only and returns before the burial, will return with the reward of one Qirat only".

QUICK LESSONS:
Attend funerals out of sincere faith and hope to attain Allah's reward

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith explains that when a Muslim attends a funeral procession out of sincere faith and hope to attain Allah's reward, they will receive two qirats as reward. A qirat is equivalent to the size of Mount Uhud. If someone only offers the funeral prayer but does not stay for the burial ceremony, they will receive one qirat as reward instead. This hadith encourages Muslims to attend funerals and shows that Allah rewards those who do so out of sincerity and faith in Him. It also teaches us that we should respect our deceased by attending their funerals and offering our prayers for them even after their death.
