Splitting of the Moon in the Time of Prophet Muhammad

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad saw the moon split into two parts during his lifetime.

Narrated Ibn 'Abbas: The moon was cleft asunder during the lifetime of the Prophet.
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ بُكَيْرٍ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي بَكْرٌ، عَنْ جَعْفَرٍ، عَنْ عِرَاكِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُتْبَةَ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ـ رضى الله عنهما ـ قَالَ انْشَقَّ الْقَمَرُ فِي زَمَانِ النَّبِيِّ ‏.‏

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about an event that happened during the lifetime of Prophet Muhammad. It is narrated by Ibn 'Abbas that one night, while looking up at the sky, he saw a miraculous sight - the moon was split into two parts! This event serves as a reminder to us all that Allah has power over all things and can do whatever He wills. It also shows us how blessed we are to have been given such a great prophet who witnessed this amazing miracle with his own eyes. We should strive to follow in his footsteps and live our lives according to His teachings.
