Prostration of Surat-an-Najm

SUMMARY: The Prophet (ﷺ) performed a prostration after reciting Surat-an-Najm and all the people around him followed suit.

Narrated Ibn 'Abbas: The Prophet performed a prostration when he finished reciting Surat-an-Najm, and all the Muslims and pagans and Jinns and human beings prostrated along with him.
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مَعْمَرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَارِثِ، حَدَّثَنَا أَيُّوبُ، عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ـ رضى الله عنهما ـ قَالَ سَجَدَ النَّبِيُّ بِالنَّجْمِ وَسَجَدَ مَعَهُ الْمُسْلِمُونَ وَالْمُشْرِكُونَ وَالْجِنُّ وَالإِنْسُ‏.‏ تَابَعَهُ ابْنُ طَهْمَانَ عَنْ أَيُّوبَ‏.‏ وَلَمْ يَذْكُرِ ابْنُ عُلَيَّةَ ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ‏.‏

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the Prophet Muhammad's (ﷺ) practice of performing a prostration after reciting the 53rd chapter of the Quran, known as "Surat an Najm". All those present at that time, including Muslims, pagans, Jinns and human beings prostrated along with him. This hadith teaches us that we should follow in the footsteps of our beloved Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ). We should strive to emulate his actions and words in order to gain Allah's pleasure. It also shows us how powerful his presence was; even nonbelievers were moved by it. Furthermore, it highlights how important it is for us to recite Quran regularly and perform sujud when we do so.
