Sahih al-Bukhari 4792 (Book 65, Hadith 314) #4575
The Revelation of Verse 33:53

SUMMARY: This hadith explains the revelation of the verse in Quran 33:53, which states that people should not enter Prophet's house without permission and should wait for a meal to be served before entering.

Narrated Anas bin Malik: I of all the people know best this verse of Al-Hijab. When Allah's Messenger married Zainab bint Jahsh she was with him in the house and he prepared a meal and invited the people (to it). They sat down (after finishing their meal) and started chatting. So the Prophet went out and then returned several times while they were still sitting and talking. So Allah revealed the Verse: 'O you who believe! Enter not the Prophet's houses until leave is given to you for a meal, (and then) not (so early as) to wait for its preparation .ask them from behind a screen'. (33:53) So the screen was set up and the people went away.

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith explains the revelation of a verse from the Quran, which is found in (33:53) chapter 33, verse 53. The verse states that believers should not enter Prophet's houses without permission and they must wait for a meal to be served before entering. This was revealed when Prophet Muhammad ﷺ invited people to his house and they stayed there chatting after finishing their meal. To ensure privacy, Allah revealed this verse so that people would not enter his house without permission or wait for its preparation. This teaches us to respect other people’s privacy and ask for permission before entering someone’s home or space. It also teaches us patience as we must wait until we are given leave before entering someone’s home or space.
