Sahih al-Bukhari 4702 (Book 65, Hadith 224) #4485
Entering the Dwellings of Al-Hijr with Respect

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) warned us not to enter the dwellings of the people of Al-Hijr unless we are weeping, otherwise we may suffer a similar fate as them.

Narrated 'Abdullah bin 'Umar: (While we were going for the Battle of Tabuk and when we reached the places of the dwellers of Al- Hijr), Allah's Messenger said about the dwellers of Al-Hijr (to us)".Do not enter (the dwelling places) of these people unless you enter weeping, but if you weep not, then do not enter upon them, lest you be afflicted with what they were afflicted with".

QUICK LESSONS:
Show respect when entering someone's dwelling place; remember their suffering; weep for their fate; show compassion towards others; remember death is inevitable for all humans.

EXPLANATIONS:
In this hadith, narrated by Abdullah bin Umar, Prophet Muhammad is warning us about entering the dwellings of those who lived in Al-Hijr. He said that if we do enter these places, it should be done with respect and humility. We should enter while weeping for their fate and what happened to them so that we don't suffer a similar fate. This hadith teaches us to show respect for those who have passed away and to remember their suffering so that it does not happen again. It also teaches us humility and reminds us that no matter how powerful or successful we become in life, our end will come one day just like everyone else's.
