Sahih al-Bukhari 454, 455 (Book 8, Hadith 103) #447
Watching the Ethiopians Play

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was watching some Ethiopians playing with spears while shielding his wife Aisha so she could watch them.

Narrated 'Aisha: Once I saw Allah's Messenger at the door of my house while some Ethiopians were playing in the mosque (displaying their skill with spears). Allah's Messenger was screening me with his Rida' so as to enable me to see their display. ('Urwa said that 'Aisha said, "I saw the Prophet and the Ethiopians were playing with their spears")

QUICK LESSONS:
Be considerate of your spouse; Think of ways to make your spouse happy; Show respect and love towards your spouse; Shield your spouse from view if needed
EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the Prophet Muhammad's kindness and consideration for his wife Aisha. He wanted her to be able to watch some Ethiopians play with their spears in the mosque without being seen by them. To do this he stood at the door of her house and shielded her with his Rida' so that she could watch without being seen. This hadith teaches us that we should always be considerate of our spouses and think of ways to make them happy even if it means going out of our way a little bit. It also shows us how much respect and love the Prophet Muhammad had for Aisha as he was willing to shield her from view in order for her to enjoy something she liked.
