EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the prohibition of alcoholic drinks. It was narrated by Ibn 'Umar who heard it from Umar while he was on the pulpit of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said that alcoholic drinks are extracted from five things which include grapes, dates, honey, wheat and barley. He also said that an alcoholic drink is something that confuses and stupefies the mind. This means that drinking alcohol can make a person confused or unable to think clearly which is why it is prohibited in Islam as it can lead to bad decisions or actions being taken by a person under its influence.
