Sahih al-Bukhari 4608 (Book 65, Hadith 130) #4391
The Blessing of Abu Bakr's Family

SUMMARY: This hadith is about the Prophet (ﷺ) sleeping on Aisha's lap and Abu Bakr hitting her for detaining people due to a lost necklace. It also talks about how Allah blessed the people due to Abu Bakr's family.

Narrated Aisha: A necklace of mine was lost at Al-Baida' and we were on our way to Medina. The Prophet made his camel kneel down and dismounted and laid his head on my lap and slept. Abu Bakr came to me and hit me violently on the chest and said, "You have detained the people because of a necklace". I kept as motionless as a dead person because of the position of Allah's Messenger ; (on my lap) although Abu Bakr had hurt me (with the slap). Then the Prophet woke up and it was the time for the morning (prayer). Water was sought, but in vain; so the following Verse was revealed:-- "O you who believe! When you intend to offer prayer".. (5:6) Usaid bin Hudair said, "Allah has blessed the people for your sake, O the family of Abu Bakr. You are but a blessing for them".

QUICK LESSONS:
Show respect towards elders even if they do something wrong or hurtful towards us .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ sleeping on Aisha’s lap while they were travelling from Al-Baida' to Medina. During this time, Abu Bakr came and hit her violently on the chest because she was holding up their journey due to a lost necklace. Despite being hurt by this action of his father’s, Aisha stayed motionless out of respect for Allah’s Messenger ﷺ who was asleep in her lap. After this incident water was sought but could not be found so Allah revealed a verse in Quran which said “O you who believe! When you intend to offer prayer." (5:6). Usaid bin Hudair then said that Allah has blessed the people for Abu Bakr’s sake as he and his family are a blessing for them. This hadith teaches us that we should always show respect towards our elders even if they do something wrong or hurtful towards us as well as it shows us how important it is to have faith in God during difficult times as He will always provide solutions when needed.
