Punishment for Intentional Killing of a Believer

SUMMARY: This hadith is about the verse in the Quran that states that whoever kills a believer intentionally will be punished with Hell.

Narrated Sa'id bin Jubair: The people of Kufa disagreed (disputed) about the above Verse. So I went to Ibn 'Abbas and asked him about it. He said, "This Verse:-- "And whoever kills a believer intentionally, his recompense is Hell". was revealed last of all (concerning premeditated murder) and nothing abrogated it".

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about a verse in the Quran which states that anyone who kills another believer intentionally will be punished with hell. The people of Kufa were debating this verse and so Sa'id bin Jubair went to Ibn 'Abbas to ask him about it. Ibn 'Abbas said that this was the last verse revealed concerning premeditated murder and nothing abrogated it, meaning nothing changed or replaced it. This means that intentional killing of another believer is still punishable by hell according to Islamic teachings. It teaches us not to take someone's life as Allah has given us life and only He can take it away from us when He wills.
