EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks about the consequences of breaking one's oath. It is narrated by Abdullah bin Abu Aufa that a man displayed some merchandise in the market and took an oath that he had been offered a certain price for it while in fact he had not, in order to cheat another Muslim. In response to this act, Allah revealed verse 3:77 which states "Verily! Those who purchase a small gain at the cost of Allah's Covenant and their oaths." This verse serves as a warning for those who break their oaths or lie for personal gain. It teaches us that we should always be honest with our words and never take advantage of others by lying or cheating them out of something they deserve. We must also remember that any wrongdoings will be punished by Allah accordingly, so it is important to stay away from such actions if we want to avoid His wrath.
