Sahih al-Bukhari 4461 (Book 64, Hadith 477) #4250
The Prophet's Legacy of Generosity

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) left behind only a few possessions when he passed away, including his white mule, weapons and a piece of land which he gave away for charity.

Narrated 'Amir bin Al-Harith: Allah's Messenger did not leave a Dinar or a Dirham or a male or a female slave. He left only his white mule on which he used to ride, and his weapons, and a piece of land which he gave in charity for the needy travelers.

QUICK LESSONS:
Give charity generously and help those who are less fortunate than you.

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks to the legacy of generosity that the Prophet Muhammad left behind. He did not leave any wealth or possessions for himself, but instead chose to give away whatever he had in charity. This included his white mule, weapons and a piece of land which was given to needy travelers. Through this act, the Prophet demonstrated that true wealth lies in giving rather than accumulating material possessions. He also showed us that we should always strive to help those who are less fortunate than us and share whatever we have with them.
