Sahih al-Bukhari 4365 (Book 64, Hadith 391) #4164
Accepting Good Tidings

SUMMARY: The Prophet (ﷺ) gave good tidings to two delegations from Banu Tamim and Yemen, but the former refused to accept them.

Narrated 'Imran bin Hussein: A delegation from Banu Tamim came to the Prophet . The Prophet said, "Accept the good tidings, O Banu Tamim!" They said, "O Allah's Messenger ! You have given us good tidings, so give us (something)". Signs of displeasure appeared on his face. Then another delegation from Yemen came and he said (to them), "Accept the good tidings, for Banu Tamim refuses to accept them". They replied, "We have accepted them, O Allah's Messenger !"

QUICK LESSONS:
Be thankful for any blessings or good news that come your way; Accept Allah’s blessings with an open heart; Remember whatever you receive is only due to Allah’s mercy upon you; Show gratitude towards all His gifts no matter how small they may seem at first glance .

EXPLANATIONS:
The hadith narrated by 'Imran bin Hussein tells us about the importance of accepting good tidings. When a delegation from Banu Tamim came to the Prophet (ﷺ), he gave them glad tidings, but they refused to accept it. On the other hand, when another delegation from Yemen came, they accepted it with pleasure and gratitude. This teaches us that we should always be thankful for any blessings or good news that come our way and not take them for granted. We should also remember that Allah is watching over us and will reward us for our acceptance of His blessings in this life as well as in the hereafter.

The Prophet's reaction towards Banu Tamim's refusal was one of displeasure which shows how important it is for us to accept Allah's blessings with an open heart and not reject them out of arrogance or pride. We must remember that whatever we receive is only due to Allah's mercy upon us so we should be grateful for all His gifts no matter how small they may seem at first glance.
