Sahih al-Bukhari 4332 (Book 64, Hadith 361) #4134
Appreciation of the Ansar

SUMMARY: The Prophet (ﷺ) showed his appreciation for the Ansar by offering to take their way when travelling, even though they were not given a share of the war booty.

Narrated Anas: When it was the day of the Conquest (of Mecca) Allah's Messenger distributed the war booty amongst the people of Quraish which caused the Ansar to become angry. So the Prophet said, "Won't you be pleased that the people take the worldly things and you take Allah's Messenger with you? "They said, "Yes". The Prophet said, "If the people took their way through a valley or mountain pass, I would take my way through the Ansar's valley or mountain pass".

QUICK LESSONS:
Show gratitude towards those who help you in life
EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about how the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ showed his appreciation for the Ansar. The day of conquest was a great victory for Muslims and so there was much war booty to be distributed among them. However, this caused some anger among the Ansar as they were not given any share in it. In response to this, Prophet Muhammad ﷺ offered them something more valuable than worldly possessions - himself! He said that if people took one route through a valley or mountain pass then he would take another route through an Ansari valley or mountain pass instead. This gesture showed how much he valued and appreciated their loyalty and support throughout his mission. It teaches us that we should always show our gratitude towards those who help us in our lives and never forget their kindness even if we are unable to repay them with material things.
