Sahih al-Bukhari 4288 (Book 64, Hadith 321) #4095
Refusal of Idolatry by Prophet Muhammad (PBUH)

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) refused to enter the Ka'ba while there were idols in it, and ordered them to be taken out. He then entered the Ka'ba and said "Allahu Akbar" in all its directions but did not offer any prayer therein.

Narrated Ibn 'Abbas: When Allah's Messenger arrived in Mecca, he refused to enter the Ka'ba while there were idols in it. So he ordered that they be taken out. The pictures of the (Prophets) Abraham and Ishmael, holding arrows of divination in their hands, were carried out. The Prophet said, "May Allah ruin them (ie the infidels) for they knew very well that they (ie Abraham and Ishmael) never drew lots by these (divination arrows). Then the Prophet entered the Ka'ba and said".Allahu Akbar" in all its directions and came out and not offer any prayer therein.

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks about the refusal of idolatry by Prophet Muhammad ﷺ when he arrived in Mecca. He ordered that all idols be taken out from the Ka'ba, which is a holy place for Muslims located in Mecca. He also mentioned that Abraham and Ishmael never drew lots by divination arrows as was believed by some people at that time. After this, he entered the Ka'ba and said "Allahu Akbar" in all its directions but did not offer any prayer therein. This hadith teaches us about how important it is to stay away from idolatry or shirk as it goes against Islamic teachings and beliefs. It also shows us how much respect we should have for places of worship like Masjid Al Haram or other mosques around the world where we can go to perform our prayers with humility and devotion towards Allah SWT.
