Sahih al-Bukhari 4250 (Book 64, Hadith 285) #4059
Appointing Leaders with Love

SUMMARY: The Prophet (ﷺ) appointed Usama bin Zaid as the commander of some people, and those people criticized his leadership. The Prophet (ﷺ) then reminded them that Usama's father was also a commander and deserved to be one, and that Usama is now one of the most beloved persons to him after his father.

Narrated Ibn 'Umar: Allah's Messenger appointed Usama bin Zaid as the commander of some people. Those people criticized his leadership. The Prophet said, "If you speak ill of his leadership, you have already spoken ill of his father's leadership before. By Allah, he deserved to be a Commander, and he was one of the most beloved persons to me and now this (ie Usama) is one of the most beloved persons to me after him.

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks about the importance of appointing leaders with love. It tells us that when we appoint someone to lead us, we should do so out of love for them rather than criticism or doubt. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ appointed Usama bin Zaid as a leader despite criticism from others, reminding them that his father was also a leader who deserved it. He then said that Usama is now one of the most beloved persons to him after his father. This hadith teaches us an important lesson about how we should treat our leaders - with respect and love - even if they are not perfect or have made mistakes in the past. We should remember that Allah will judge everyone on Qiyamah according to their intentions and actions, not ours.
