Sahih al-Bukhari 406 (Book 8, Hadith 58) #402
Praying with Respect

SUMMARY: When praying, one should not spit in front of them as Allah is in front of them.

Narrated 'Abdullah bin 'Umar: Allah's Messenger saw sputum on the wall of the mosque in the direction of the Qibla and scraped it off. He faced the people and said, "Whenever any one of you is praying, he should not spit in front of him because in the prayer Allah is in front of him".

Show respect while praying; Keep mosques clean; Be mindful during prayer time

EXPLANATIONS:
The hadith narrated by Abdullah bin Umar states that when one is praying to Allah they should not spit in front of them as Allah is present and facing the person who is praying. This hadith teaches us to show respect and reverence when we are communicating with our Lord. We must remember that He is always watching us and listening to our prayers so we must be mindful of how we act during prayer time. It also teaches us to keep our mosques clean and free from any dirt or sputum on the walls or floors. We must take care of the places where we pray so that it remains a place for worshiping God without any distractions or uncleanliness.
