Increase in Prayer

SUMMARY: The Prophet (ﷺ) was asked if there was an increase in the prayer when he offered five rak'at in Zuhr prayer, to which he responded by performing two prostrations.

Narrated 'Abdullah: "Once the Prophet offered five rak'at in Zuhr prayer. He was asked, "Is there an increase in the prayer?" The Prophet said, "And what is it?" They said, "You have prayed five rak'at'. So he bent his legs and performed two prostrations (of Sahu).
حَدَّثَنَا مُسَدَّدٌ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى، عَنْ شُعْبَةَ، عَنِ الْحَكَمِ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، عَنْ عَلْقَمَةَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، قَالَ صَلَّى النَّبِيُّ الظُّهْرَ خَمْسًا فَقَالُوا أَزِيدَ فِي الصَّلاَةِ قَالَ ‏ "‏ وَمَا ذَاكَ ‏"‏‏.‏ قَالُوا صَلَّيْتَ خَمْسًا‏.‏ فَثَنَى رِجْلَيْهِ وَسَجَدَ سَجْدَتَيْنِ‏.‏

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the importance of prayer and how it should be performed. It is narrated that once the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ offered five rak’ats during his Zuhr prayer. When asked if there was an increase in the prayer, he responded by performing two prostrations. This shows us that we should always be mindful of our prayers and perform them with full concentration and devotion. We should also take care to ensure that we are following all of the rules and regulations set out for us when it comes to praying so as not to miss any important parts or steps. Additionally, this hadith teaches us that even though we may think something is right or wrong, it is always best to ask someone who knows more than us for clarification before making a decision on our own.
