Sahih al-Bukhari 4163 (Book 64, Hadith 205) #3980
The Tree of Ar-Ridwan

SUMMARY: This hadith is about the Tree of Ar-Ridwan, where the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) took a pledge of allegiance from his companions.

Narrated Tariq bin 'Abdur-Rahman: When I set out for Hajj, I passed by some people offering a prayer, I asked, "What is this mosque?" They said, "This is the Tree where Allah's Messenger took the Ar-Ridwan Pledge of allegiance. Then I went to Sa'id bin Musaiyab and informed him about it. Sa'id said, "My father said that he was amongst those who had given the Pledge of allegiance to Allah's Messenger beneath the Tree. He (ie my father) said, "When we set out the following year, we forgot the Tree and were unable to recognize it".Then Sa'id said (perhaps ironically) "The companions of the Prophet could not recognize it; nevertheless, you do recognize it; therefore you have a better knowledge".

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about an event that happened during the time of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ when he was taking a pledge of allegiance from his companions beneath a tree called Ar-Ridwan. The tree was so special that it was remembered by all those who were present there and they could recognize it even after one year when they returned to the same place. It shows how important this event was for them and how much respect they had for their beloved Prophet ﷺ. It also teaches us to be loyal to our commitments and promises, no matter what happens in life, as this is what Allah expects from us as Muslims.
