Humility is Rewarded

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) taught that Allah will humble those who become arrogant and raise up those who are humble.

Anas bin Malik (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: Messenger of Allah had a she-camel called Al-'Adba' which would not allow any other camel to surpass her. A bedouin came riding his camel which outstripped it. The Muslims were much grieved at this. Messenger of Allah perceived it and said, "It is Allah's Way that he lowers whatever raises itself in the world". Al- Bukhari.

QUICK LESSONS:
Remain Humble & Modest

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith teaches us the importance of humility in our lives. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) was riding his she-camel, Al-'Adba', when a Bedouin came riding his camel which outstripped it. The Muslims were grieved by this, but the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said “It is Allah's Way that he lowers whatever raises itself in the world”. This teaches us that if we become arrogant or proud of ourselves, then Allah will humble us and bring us back down to earth. On the other hand, if we remain humble and modest, then Allah will reward us for our humility and raise us up in this world and beyond. We should always strive to remain humble so that we can receive these rewards from God Almighty.
