The Effects of Begging for Wealth

SUMMARY: Begging for wealth will not necessarily increase it, and it is up to the individual to decide whether they want to increase or decrease their wealth.

Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: Messenger of Allah said, "He who begs to increase his riches is in fact asking only for a live coal. It is up to him to decrease it or increase it". Muslim.

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith by Prophet Muhammad ﷺ teaches us that begging for wealth will not necessarily lead to an increase in riches. It is ultimately up to the individual if they want their wealth to grow or shrink. We should not rely on others when it comes to our financial situation but instead take responsibility and work hard towards achieving our goals. This hadith also encourages us not to be greedy and instead be content with what we have been blessed with.
