Moderation in Eating

SUMMARY: Eating in moderation is important for a healthy lifestyle.

Miqdam bin Ma'dikarib (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: I heard Messenger of Allah say: "No man fills a container worse than his stomach. A few morsels that keep his back upright are sufficient for him. If he has to, then he should keep one-third for food, one-third for drink and one-third for his breathing". At-Tirmidhi, who classified it as Hadith Hasan.

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith emphasizes the importance of eating in moderation. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) taught that no man should fill his stomach with too much food, and that a few morsels are enough to keep one's back upright. He also suggested that if one has to eat more, then they should divide it into thirds - one third for food, one third for drink and the last third for breathing. This hadith teaches us about the importance of eating healthily and not overindulging on food or drinks as it can lead to health problems such as obesity or diabetes. It also encourages us to take care of our bodies by ensuring we get enough rest and exercise so we can stay healthy and strong.
