The Rewards of Doing Good Deeds

SUMMARY: Every day, a person should do good deeds such as administering justice, helping others, speaking kindly and removing obstacles from the path of others.

Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: Messenger of Allah said, "Every day the sun rises charity (Sadaqah) is due on every joint of a person: you administer justice between two men is a charity; and assisting a man to mount his beast, or helping him load his luggage on it is a charity; and a good word is a charity; and every step that you take (towards the mosque) for Salat (prayer) is a charity and removing harmful things from the road is a charity". Al-Bukhari and Muslim. In Muslim, it is reported on the authority of 'Aishah (May Allah be pleased with her) that Messenger of Allah said, "Everyone of the children of Adam has been created with three hundred and sixty joints; so he who declares the Glory of Allah (ie, saying Allahu Akbar), praises Allah (ie, Al-hamdu lillah), declares Allah to be One (ie, La ilaha illallah), glorifies Allah, and seeks forgiveness from Allah (ie, Astaghfirullah), and removes stone, or thorn, or bone from people's path, and enjoins good and forbids evil, to the number of those three hundred and sixty, will walk that day having rescued himself from Hell".

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the rewards of doing good deeds. It teaches us that every day we should strive to do acts of kindness and charity in order to be rewarded by Allah. We can do this by administering justice between two people, helping someone mount their animal or load their luggage onto it, speaking kindly to others, taking steps towards the mosque for prayer and removing harmful things from the road. These are all acts that will bring us closer to Allah and help us avoid punishment in Hellfire on Judgement Day. Additionally, it is mentioned that each person has three hundred sixty joints which represent opportunities for doing good deeds throughout our lives. If we take advantage of these opportunities then we will be able to save ourselves from Hellfire on Judgement Day.
