Devotion to Prayer

SUMMARY: The Prophet (ﷺ) was so devoted to prayer that it made Ibn Mas'ud think of doing something wrong.

Ibn Mas'ud (May Allah be pleased with him) said: One night I joined the Prophet in his (optional) Salat. He prolonged the standing so much that I thought of doing something evil. He was asked: "What did you intend to do?" He replied: "To sit down and leave him". Al-Bukhari and Muslim.

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the devotion of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ to prayer. He was so devoted that it made his companion Ibn Mas'ud think of doing something wrong. This shows us how important prayer is in Islam and how we should strive to be as devoted as the Prophet ﷺ in our prayers. We should also remember that if we ever feel like giving up on our prayers or any other religious obligations, we should remember this hadith and strive for obedience instead of disobedience.

The Prophet ﷺ taught us through this hadith that even when things get difficult or challenging, we must remain obedient and faithful to Allah SWT by continuing with our prayers and other religious obligations. We must never give up on them no matter what happens because they are essential for a successful life here on earth and hereafter in Jannah.
