Meeting Pious Men After the Prophet's Death

SUMMARY: The hadith is about the Prophet Muhammad's death and how Umar and Abu Bakr went to meet two pious men who fought in the battle of Badr.

Narrated Ibn 'Abbas: 'Umar said, "When the Prophet died I said to Abu Bakr, 'Let us go to our Ansari brethren'. We met two pious men from them, who had fought in the battle of Badr". When I mentioned this to 'Urwa bin Az-Zubair, he said, "Those two pious men were 'Uwaim bin Sa'ida and Maan bin Adi".
حَدَّثَنَا مُوسَى، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَاحِدِ، حَدَّثَنَا مَعْمَرٌ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، حَدَّثَنِي ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ، عَنْ عُمَرَ ـ رضى الله عنهم ـ لَمَّا تُوُفِّيَ النَّبِيُّ قُلْتُ لأَبِي بَكْرٍ انْطَلِقْ بِنَا إِلَى إِخْوَانِنَا مِنَ الأَنْصَارِ‏.‏ فَلَقِيَنَا مِنْهُمْ رَجُلاَنِ صَالِحَانِ شَهِدَا بَدْرًا‏.‏ فَحَدَّثْتُ عُرْوَةَ بْنَ الزُّبَيْرِ فَقَالَ هُمَا عُوَيْمُ بْنُ سَاعِدَةَ، وَمَعْنُ بْنُ عَدِيٍّ‏.‏

This hadith speaks of a moment after the death of Prophet Muhammad when Umar and Abu Bakr went to meet two pious men who had fought in the battle of Badr.
