Relying on Allah Alone

SUMMARY: This hadith emphasizes the importance of relying on Allah alone and trusting in His will.

Ibn Abbas (May Allah be pleased with them) said: One day, I was riding behind the Prophet when he said, "O boy! I will instruct you in some matters. Be watchful of Allah (Commandments of Allah), He will preserve you. Safeguard His Rights, He will be ever with you. If you beg, beg of Him Alone; and if you need assistance, supplicate to Allah Alone for help. And remember that if all the people gather to benefit you, they will not be able to benefit you except that which Allah had foreordained (for you); and if all of them gather to do harm to you, they will not be able to afflict you with anything other than that which Allah had pre-destined against you. The pens had been lifted and the ink had dried up". At- Tirmidhi, who categorized it as Hadith Hasan Sahih.

EXPLANATIONS:
In this hadith, the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) is teaching his companion Ibn Abbas about the importance of relying on Allah alone. He explains that if all people gather to benefit you, they will not be able to do so unless it is what Allah has already ordained for you. Similarly, if all people gather to harm you, they will not be able to do so unless it is what Allah has already pre-destined against you. The Prophet also reminds us that our fate and destiny are written by God and no one can change it. This hadith teaches us that we should always put our trust in God and rely on Him for everything we need in life as He is the only one who can truly help us. We should also remember that whatever happens in our lives was already written by God and no one else can change it or alter its course.
