The Blessing of Truthful Business Transactions

SUMMARY: Both parties in a business transaction have the right to annul it as long as they have not separated, and if they tell the truth and make everything clear to each other, their transaction will be blessed.

Hakim bin Hizam (May Allah be pleased with him) reported that: Messenger of Allah said: "Both parties in a business transaction have a right to annul it so long as they have not separated; and if they tell the truth and make everything clear to each other (ie, the seller and the buyer speak the truth, the seller with regard to what is purchased, and the buyer with regard to the money) they will be blessed in their transaction, but if they conceal anything and lie, the blessing on their transaction will be eliminated". Al-Bukhari and Muslim.

QUICK LESSONS:
Be honest with each other during business transactions; Make sure all details are made clear; Strive for transparency during dealings with others; Speak the truth at all times.

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks about the importance of truthfulness and clarity when engaging in business transactions. It is important for both parties involved in a transaction to be honest with each other and make sure that all details are made clear. If this is done then Allah will bless their transaction. However if either party lies or conceals any information then the blessing on their transaction will be eliminated. This teaches us that we should always strive for honesty when dealing with others so that our dealings may be blessed by Allah.
