Riyad as-Salihin 1782 (Book 17, Hadith 272) #38271
Supplication After Obligatory Prayers & Forbidden Actions

SUMMARY: This hadith explains the supplication that Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) used to make after obligatory prayers, and also forbids certain actions such as irrelevant talk, wasteful expenditure, persistent questioning, disobedience of parents (especially mothers), infanticide of daughters by burying them alive, depriving others of their rights and acquisition of property wrongfully.

Warrad, the scribe of Al-Mughirah bin Shu'bah (May Allah be pleased with him) said: Al-Mughirah bin Shu'bah dictated a letter to me addressed to Mu'awiyah (May Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet used to supplicate at the end of each obligatory Salat (prescribed prayer): "La ilaha illallahu, wahadahu la sharika lahu, lahul-mulku, wa lahul-hamdu, wa Huwa 'ala kulli shai'in Qadir. Allahumma la mani'a lima a'taita, wa la mu'tiya lima mana'ta, wa la yanfa'u dhal-jaddi mink-al-jaddu. (There is no true god except Allah, the One, Who has no partner. His is the sovereignty and His is the praise, and He is Able to do everything. O Allah! Nobody can withhold what You give; and nobody can give what You withhold; and the high status of a person is of no avail against Your Will)". He also wrote to him that the Prophet used to forbid irrelevant talk, wasteful expenditure, persistent questioning, disobedience of parents (especially mothers), infanticide of daughters by burying them alive, depriving others of their rights and acquisition of property wrongfully. Al-Bukhari and Muslim.

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about Prophet Muhammad's supplications after obligatory prayers and what he forbade people from doing. The Prophet's supplications were "La ilaha illallahu, wahadahu la sharika lahu, lahul-mulku, wa lahul-hamdu, wa Huwa 'ala kulli shai'in Qadir. Allahumma la mani'a lima a'taita, wa la mu'tiya lima mana'tta wa la yanfa’u dhal jaddi mink al jadd". This translates to “There is no true god except Allah alone with no partner or associate; His is the sovereignty and His is the praise; He has power over all things; O Allah! Nobody can withhold what You give; nobody can give what You withhold; and high status does not avail against Your Will”. The Prophet also forbade people from engaging in irrelevant talk or conversations that do not benefit anyone in any way. He also warned against wasting money on unnecessary items or activities that do not bring any benefit to oneself or others around them. Additionally he prohibited persistent questioning which means asking too many questions without purpose or need for it as well as disobeying one's parents especially mothers who have done so much for us throughout our lives. Furthermore he condemned infanticide which means killing babies especially girls by burying them alive which was a common practice at that time in some parts of Arabia as well as depriving others from their rights such as taking away someone else’s property without permission or justification for it . All these teachings are important values we should all strive to uphold in our daily lives if we want to be successful both here on earth and hereafter in paradise inshaAllah .
