Eating Garlic and Onion Before Mosque

SUMMARY: Eating garlic, onion, or leek before coming to the mosque is discouraged as it offends the angels and people.

Jabir (May Allah be pleased with him) said: The Prophet said, "He who has eaten garlic or onion should keep away from us or our mosques". Al-Bukhari and Muslim. The narration in Muslim is: "He who has eaten onion or garlic or leek should not approach our mosque, because the angels are also offended by the strong smells) that offend the children of Adam". Muslim.

QUICK LESSONS:
Maintain good hygiene when visiting mosques . Be considerate of other's feelings by not bringing strong odors into a place of worship .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about how one should behave when visiting a mosque. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught that those who have eaten garlic, onion, or leek should not come to the mosque because these foods have strong smells that can offend both people and angels. It is important to remember that mosques are places of worship and respect so it is important to maintain good hygiene when visiting them. Additionally, this hadith teaches us about being considerate of others by not bringing strong odors into a place of worship where many people are gathered together in prayer. We should also be mindful of our own hygiene so as not to offend anyone else in the mosque or elsewhere we go.
